ok so whos twittering?

do you tweet?

i want to set this up on my new ipod touch but havent  had time to do it yet, busy setting up some other things but i want to get to it soon

is there a howell twitter group lol.......ok ready for those  jokes!

the one think  i dont like is that when i bookmarked this site, i had to enlarge the page and click on the boards - is there a direct link to just the boards bypassing everything else?

this page only workes on http://www.howellnj.com/ and that brings me to the front page with the options box, it is hard to do (and a hassle) to get to the boards and read, any suggestions for that?

I don't even text and refuse to learn how! I know I sound like a Luddite but I hate the idea of all this electronic communication. (Yes, I have a cell phone but it sits in my purse and only gets used so I don't have to carry change and use public telephones or walk from a disabled vehicle).
I feel my disdain is more than called for.  Look around you. We've got all these electronic toys for "communicating"yet there seems to be more of a disconnect between people than ever before? I think all this texting and twittering and tweeting is turning us into a society of automatons a la the Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

My analogy is: the pods were replaced with I-pods and the invasion grows with each day and each tweet of the twitter. The plot is that eventually we're all gonna be caught between the bitter and the tweet.  Roll Eyes

Grin  I'm with you KB - We got my son a cell phone for his 16th Birthday - he RARELY uses it.  I got one because it was free.  It comes in handy sometimes but we don't have the text option for it at all.
We are a dying breed.

I don't text, twitter, or tweet. I don't often email either. I have a cell phone but keep it turned off almost all the time. (I use it to find my family or order pizza on my way home or stuff like that.) I post on this BB and that's about it. My iPod is for music only and I enjoy not having to communicate with someone every minute of the day. I'm not a Luddite and started using computers on a daily basis in 1984. Technology doesn't faze me but inconsideration does.

Nothing against men, but notice that they walk around talking on a cell or texting and act as if the world depended on their conversations. Some become outright rude about it. At a recent banquet for the kids a man held the outside door open while the napkins blew off the tables so he could get better reception. It was one of those freezing days and he was annoyed when he was told to shut the door. To make it worse, the kids were giving a presentation at that time. (Stay home next time, you ignorant, inconsiderate A** H***!)

But then, I've seen some women do the same thing at shops, regardless of the fact that someone is paying to heat or cool the shop, not the whole town. Do business owners cringe when this happens or just jack up the prices to cover overhead?

Women seem to be more open about the fact that they might not have the president on the line and are dealing with the kids -- or the husband -- via a cell tower.

It seems silly when someone has to make an announcement at a meeting, dinner, church, or whatever, to 'please turn off your cell phones." Doesn't this go without saying? And why are there always a few who the rules don't apply to?

I don't get the concept of imersing oneself in constant conversation especially when it's short statements and cute abbeviations. Are we afraid of being 'out of touch?' Are we building a wall around us by being emotionally and conversationally unavailable to everyone but the person on the cell? Someone must have done a study of this. Can someone please explain it to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

Use the address:  http://www.howellnj.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl
that should take you right to the "boards".

However, I don't know how an IPT handles "cookies". You might be a guest.
