I was at toyota in lakewood yesterday for our 15,000 mile check up and also to find out more info on the latest recall. Of course our model is involved and toyota has no fix. No letters or emails have gotten out to their customers about it and what they should do, that would be customer service and guess Toyota corp doesn't have that department. I think this will be our last toyota after 5 in a row and last 4 from same dealer.
One person there, don't know who, but when I called about it said if the accelerator sticks just press hard on brakes pull over and call them to pick it up. I will not tell you what I said to that person this is a g rated board and even if it wasn't UGH. No wonder toyota stopped production yesterday and the dealer I was at has a boatload of cars. Who in their right mind would buy one with a recall that has no fix just yet.

You are probably right but maybe driving thru toyotas main office will stop it.
This so called fix is ready now and being shipped to dealers. Funny but the cars that were not affected were the ones built in Japan. Makes you wonder.

Toyota said that not all the models listed in the recall have the faulty gas pedals, which were made by CTS Corp. of Elkhart, Ind. Dealers can tell which models have the CTS pedals.

Sounds like they're finding a scapegoat American company to catch the flack. This is a design problem, not a manufacturing one; unless this company didn't build to specs.

The pedal maker has CLEARLY said that Toyota has assured them their pedal is not responsible for any serious incidents. They have also said the pedals were built to Toyota's specifications. That said, how is this fix going to solve the problem? There are serious doubts about this proposed fix, especially since some have reported issues with models not covered in this recall. Furthermore, why are vehicles in other countries being recalled if CTS only supplies parts for US Toyotas?

Toyota has been unable to correct the stopping problem so they are offering free upgrades for rubber front bumpers.  Some of the dealers are throwing in a louder horn too.

All kidding aside - This is one of the most reliable car companies around.  I am confident that they'll find a fix for this problem and quickly implement it.  Meanwhile, Ford is still working on a repair for the exploding Pinto.

If you can grab a Camry, or shares of Toyota, while the prices are low - I would jump on it!

I don't think so Pat. Toyota has been going downhill for awhile now. Our 2009 corolla is the worst we even had and don't forget this is the 2nd recall on it in 3 months. The other was the brakes.
Guess they fixed the brake problem first before the gas pedal sticks.

Now the prius brakes are beind recalled. They have really lost it at Toyota. Still waiting for dealer or Toyota to officiaaly notify us. I think I have a long wait.
