It is finally melting and I have some flower buds popping up (I have no idea what they are since we moved in this past September so it is whatever the previous owners had).
My mom lives in upstate Northwest NY for about 9 years now and my dad lived near Hunter Mountain for about 20 years from 1985 - 2005 and they always had insane amounts of snow. For the most part, it would start snowing shortly after Halloween and you wouldn't see the ground again until sometime in April. Snow removal never seemed to be a problem up there. This year, they'd get a little snow, then it would melt, then a little snow, then melt. We, on the other hand, haven't been able to see the ground from sometime in December until this week. It's finally melting! WOO HOO!
I lived most of my life in Queens, NY. We never had a problem getting rid of snow. They bring in dump truck type trucks that have a giant hose on them that hook up to the sewers through the manholes. They scoop up the snow into the back of the dump truck which is super heated and melts everything and the water comes out the giant hose right into the sewer. Problem solved.

We need to get one of those around here.
