You may get your wish, Annette. I would venture to guess there might be some daffodils spotted amongst spots of snow in the coming days and/or weeks.  Wink

This winter reminds me of the ones my Grandmother use to talk about - I think that we actually have had more snow then the St. Paul area of MN.  Enough is Enough I am so ready for 90 degrees and promise not to complain about the heat - you can all hold me to that.

Lots of bluebirds around. I don't care about this snow, I will plant soon even if it is under the damn snow.
Rats I have to dig another path to the BBQ again. Angry

We just got back from a 4 day weekend up at Hunter Mountain.  We rented a huge house and 28 of us drank and ate enough to feed an army.

The town got 7 feet of snow over 4 days during the week before our arrival.   Or maybe it was 4 feet over 7 days -  I don't recall.   I never saw so much snow so I couldn't tell for sure.  I spoke with the caretaker of the home and he said they have NEVER had snow like this before.  And up until this storm, they actually had less accumulation than we had down here.

And oddly enough - the roads were clear and the 5 -6 foot mounds neatly lined the roads.   Now if they can get rid of 7 feet of snow, why are we struggling with 1 foot?

It is finally melting and I have some flower buds popping up (I have no idea what they are since we moved in this past September so it is whatever the previous owners had).

My mom lives in upstate Northwest NY for about 9 years now and my dad lived near Hunter Mountain for about 20 years from 1985 - 2005 and they always had insane amounts of snow.  For the most part, it would start snowing shortly after Halloween and you wouldn't see the ground again until sometime in April.  Snow removal never seemed to be a problem up there.  This year, they'd get a little snow, then it would melt, then a little snow, then melt.  We, on the other hand, haven't been able to see the ground from sometime in December until this week.  It's finally melting!  WOO HOO!

I lived most of my life in Queens, NY.  We never had a problem getting rid of snow.  They bring in dump truck type trucks that have a giant hose on them that hook up to the sewers through the manholes.  They scoop up the snow into the back of the dump truck which is super heated and melts everything and the water comes out the giant hose right into the sewer.  Problem solved.   Grin   We need to get one of those around here.
