I still say I would rather be at the dentist getting root canal with NO PAIN killers then trying to buy a car these days. I went with our daughter yesterday to Freehold Hundai. She wanted to see a a particular car and is ready to trade in her 04 VW for a new one. As soon as you pull in they start to swarm on you. Crazy all we wanted to do was look but he insisted we go inside. He also said yes we have many of them, the model our daughter wanted to see. After 20 minutes inside we finally were allowed to go out and in the back to see it. As we approached this model I only saw 3 not many, lie #1. The salesman had the key so our daughter could take a test drive. As they were getting in, I looked at the one right next to it which was exactly what she wanted, color and automatic as he was telling her about the stick shift, and I said hey this one is automatic. Salesman goofed again #2 and ran back to get the right keys, guess he doesn't hear the customer too much with his mouth flapping all the time. Well needless to say after the drive back to the office for some serious talk but unfortunately the salesman still wasn't listening and after almost 2 hours of pain we left, in my daughers car not a new one, yes we told him we be right back. Total count above 12.
I got home and had to take extra meds just to regain myself. Some things still haven't changed even in this poor retail market. Yes my daughter still wants it but we will try a different dealer next time. Guiess freehold lost a sale. It is amazing these so called salepeople are still around. I just assumed that with a slow economy and little sales the bad ones would go back to work for burger king or something and the real sales people would remain but guess not.
My daugher takes me along to make sure she doesn't get rippped off and hopefully learn how to deal with pinheads. Yes we are going to trade in our toyota also for possibly a hundai but damn if I would go to Freehold hundai, I would rather get that root canal. Or maybe I will go back there and ask for the same salesperson and reverse the rolls. Now that sounds like a plan to me. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I know it's out of the way but try Brad Benson (I heard good stories about them) or check in the Rahway area - First recommendation would be Bell but I am not sure if they have a Hyndai dealer but right on Rt1 & 9 in Avenel is a big dealership.  I bought a care from they years ago and they were decent to deal with.  I have heard decent stories about Brad Benson.  Freehold is the worse - when I got my minivan I was looking at a Santa Fe - First trip great - Brought my husband the next night for a test drive and nobody around to help.  Wound up buying a Mazda in Toms River.

Eatontown has some dealerships that were very nice to me in the past.  Toms River is about the same distance as Brad Benson on Rt 1.  Take 522 thru Jamesburg to Rt 1 - not far from there Wink

Love those Brad Benson commercials!

James,

Don't ever trade in a car!  Sell it yourself.  The economy sucks and cheap cars are at a premium right now.  All you are doing is giving the dealer the ability to make another profit off of you.  You can give him one profit but why would you give him two?

Throw it up on Craigs list (for free) and see what happens.

As long as it's a decent car, in a decent color and in reasonably good shape, then I am confident that you'll get a lot more than any dealer will give you.

Don't forget - the market price is the same whether you sell it or the dealer sells it.   But the dealer will always pay you much less so they can sell it themselves and turn your car into a profit.

Mr. Mazzetta,

Send me a private message or email ray@pipesalot.com for your asking price on the vw.  My daughter might be interested (she just passed the road test recently)  Smiley

Ray,
My daughters car is a 2004 vw jetta with a stick and approx 72,000 miles on it. I will ask her this weekend if she is interested in selling it as opposed to trade.
