I just noticed the BOE is holding a Meeting on Wednesday, June 23rd at Middle School North. This also happens to be the same night of the 8th grade Graduation. So I am guessing they will rush thru Graduation so they can hold this meeting now. The students who now have to have an indoor Ceremony will get shortchanged once again by them having to rush thru the Ceremonies for a BOE Meeting. Makes you wonder is the BOE really out for the Children? They couldn’t hold their Meeting another night or at another location?

This comment takes the cake. Thanks to the councils lack of committment the Board is forced to come up with a new plan and a new vote. They made it clear that finding a date to hold this meeting, if neccissary would be very dificut due to their schedules.

There will be no rushing through Graduation. Graduation is scheduled for 6:00 pm and the meeting will start with executive at 8:00 pm. Even if the custodial staff starts at 8 they have more then enough time to turn the room around. And yes I know that for a fact!!

There are other rooms and other schools that can be used to hold a meeting. It DOES NOT  have to be done at the same location as a Graduation. As far as Executive Session they MUST  open a meeting before going into Executive Session so maybe they can turn a room around while they are in Executive Session but what do they go on stage and open there meeting to go into Executive Session. Also Graduation is on a ticket basis now that it is inside what about the people that come such as you that come 1/2 hour to 3/4 hour early for the meeting. Parents are going to be parking at the School & High School for the Graduation. So where are the people parking for the Meeting? The Meeting can & should be held at a different school.

Are the graduations for the three middle schools held on different nights?

I'm not sure if they do all three on the same night.

My daughter graduated MSS last year and we were done in abouut 55 minutes.  They have it down to a science and no time is wasted.

Not too worry - there is plenty of time to do both.

Tom
All three are the same night at their own School.

Pat
Thank you for that information. With 278 students graduating I didn't think it could be done in such a short period of time.

Al,

It's a well old machine!  Don't blink or you'll miss it.

The kids are coming up to the stage 2 at a time and diplomas are handed out on both the left and right side of the stage.  At least that's the way it was done last year for my younger daughter.  She was our third to come through MSS and it's gotten faster each time.

My oldest daughter was the first MSS graduating class and it was a little less organized back then.   But now?  Forget it!  It moves really fast so have your camera ready.

Wow Al didn't know I had to be so specific about the time frame. I only ran nine of them not like I was guessing.

Thanks for clearing that up Pat.

Found out today that the BOE rethought their orginial plan to hold the meeting at MSN and moved it to LOP. A few of them also thought it could be a traffic n parking problem with the students leaving n people coming to the meeting. I must say thank you to the BOE for changing the location.

Jamie
You never said u ran any all u said is u know it for a fact. All u had to say was graduation is only an hour or just over an hour. Yes the time frame does help very much. Either way the BOE moved the meeting and I as well as other parents r happy with that.

Because it would be a total cluster. Huge amount of people. Three times as long. And whose school do you have it at?

Someone would say they were doing it for the wrong reasons...and that its not for the kids,

I think it would be more costly. They are different districts. Each district charges a fee if you want to use their facilities....chairs too? More money. PA system? More money. I doubt it is less even when you factor in the custodians that have to come in at the three schools vs all the fees of renting the high school out. P.s. you need some rooms inside the building too. And what if it rains? You need the gym, auditorium, and cafeteria on standby. $$$

That and you would have to wait until after the FRHSD graduation ceremonies....do you think they would like people to mess up their fields before they have their own graduation?

I'm sure they can fit all of the graduates at one middle school....

Or keep doing it the way they are doing it which is just fine too. Don't fix it if its not broken...who wants to sit thru 600 names when they coulda sat thru 200?

The district and the High School have an on going relationship when it comes to sharing facilities. NO FEES ARE INVOLVED. This can be done and done cost effectively.
