The owner of the Phoenix Suns basketball team, Robert Sarver, openly opposes AZ's new immigration laws.

Arizona’s Governor, Jan Brewer, released the following statement in response to Sarver's criticism of the new law:

"What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into games without paying? What if they had a good idea who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees couldn't be ejected. Furthermore, what if Suns' ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with complimentary eats and drink? And what if, on those days when a gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free medical care and shelter?" - Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer

I still find it humorous that the Obama’s were "stunned" when 2 harmless idiots crashed their White House party.  It was a major news story and Homeland Security was probably chastised over the incident.  Heads rolled!

But 1000 per day, coming into Arizona illegally, and with guns and drugs, doesn't bat an eye!

I guess it’s a worst case scenario of NIMBY (not in my back yard) syndrome.  "No problem in your Arizona yard – just don’t let them into mine!"

Great job Prez!

They are coming over the border onto private property! How is this not at least trespassing?

If someone kept taking a short cut over the fence and through your backyard, or worse, camping out on your lawn shouldn't trespassing laws be enforced? I don't care if it's enforced by the local sherif, state police or feds -- or the property owner with a shotgun. They are trespassing, legal or not!

I  think some groups are confused at why we are concerned. At demonstrations you see signs saying "No human is illegal." Are they confusing "illegal" with the term "illegitimate," as in "the king's illegitimite offspring can't inherit the throne?"

I still don't understand what a "sanctuary city" is an who it serves.

I wonder how the Native Americans felt when we "crossed the pond" to "trespass" on their property. And we brought them gifts too. Although we were much more creative along with being practical. Nothing exotic like guns and drugs. Just some blankets for the cold weather (with some smallpox thrown in of course).

Those crazy Mexicans. Don't they remember? We took the southwest from them like over a hundred years ago. Jeez. Some people really don't know when to let bygones be bygones. Roll Eyes

Kathy just a quick question - Does this mean that we should allow everyone to come and go as they please - not caring if they are criminals or terrorists?  I have no problem with people coming here to visit, work, live, or become a citizen if they do it the right way.

Maybe if we didn't have to pay for the free hospital visits for the illegals - we could provide better care for our poor and senior citizens.  If they want our land - let them declare war on the United States and fight for the land - like we did or pay us for it.  They don't want a new place to settle - they want to steal the American Dream from honest tax payers.

Jackie,

I don't know that they want to "steal" anything. Do they want a piece of the American Dream? Of course. But they're willing to work for it.

I never thought I would be giving props to George W. Bush but he had a common sense, humane amnesty plan that would have made so-called illegals  taxpayers.

Kathy - You and I agree on something - I also support this - then they will be paying taxes.  I do believe that most of the population that is here and undocumented are hard workers - the problem now is - not so many people are willing to hire the undocumented & unfortunately if you go into most retail stores they will tell you that shoplifting is a major problem (with all aspects of the population) but on rainy days or for those that were not hired for the day it is a second job.  Now - I truely do believe that if they were documented - they would work "real" jobs and not take their chance on the luck of the draw with weather and if they are selected from the Muster Zone.  In the past my Dad has hired some really hard workers to help him out around the house during the day but in the past 4 -5 years he has even noticed that you don't get the "hard workers" you use to ( most of the people that hire everyday know who to pick); they do not always seem "happy" to be working.
Also many of them will "buy" a Social Security Card so that they can find a steady job and even purchase health insurance - I know this because when I was working for a Benefits company we would frequently receive calls from individuals from one retail establishment in the SouthWest that every year would call to give us their updated Social Security Numbers for the new year.

"I wonder how the Native Americans felt when we "crossed the pond" to "trespass" on their property." -- KB

Probably the same way as the Aztecs, Mayans and other indigenous people felt when Spain moved in on them. Back then almost the whole southern half of the US belonged to Mexico -- or actually Spain.

In time Mexicans and South Americans will eventually reclaim our southern states and more simply by moving here -- legally or not. Their kids (born here) will be in a position to take over our government by running for office and winning. They can do it without firing a shot.

Besides those looking for honest work or a better life for their families the scumbags are also coming in. This is probably why immigration laws were made in the first place. They don't just apply to Mexicans but to those from every part of the world. They need to be enforced.
