The problem - the recipe was 24 pages long!  Even the size of the nuts had to meet certain standards.  It would take someone all day to make a government brownie and my kid could whip up a batch in 20 minutes for 1/10 the price.

Multiply the brownie recipe by everything they do and you have a new recipe – a recipe for disaster.

Did your kid ever have to prepare a "batch" of brownies for a couple hundred thousand people. Brownies with a shelf-life longer than three to four days? Something that will survive an air lift maybe six months later?

I imagine it's a huge undertaking with a biiiig recipe. Maybe even like 24 pages long.  Wink

"What do you want them to do Pat, rise up and shout "Kill All Muslims, they're terrorists!"?"

No.  They shouldn't shout that because it would not be right or remotely accurate.

How about "Kill all terrorists even when they are Muslims?"

Do you know that the Koran allows (and encourages and endorses) lying to non-muslims if it benefits the Islamic community?  The Koran, unlike the bible or the torah, was written by one guy over his lifetime.  I think he was a wacky dude.

As does the Talmud...

P.S. Fareed Zakaria is one of the only reasons CNN can still hold its head high (his Sunday "GPS" show is a must for anyone with half a brain. Seeing as I have CNN on as background on the weekends, I'm unsure of the time. I think it's 1:00 Sunday afternoon).

And we have Jon Stewart to thank for Fareed's successful appeal as well. True story.  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin Who else would have given Fareed a forum to hawk his books while allowing him the opportunity to dazzle us with his wit and intelligence.

What's not to love?  Wink Grin

The question was "Who is willing to wager?".  And being a sporting guy, I accepted and offered a recession era wager of 1 Corona.

Kathy's estimate - 25K
Pat's estimate "Low 6 figures" (anything above 100K)

Now we need to decide because we get no help from Washington.

According to the article:

"The crowd — organizers had a permit for 300,000 — was vast, with people standing shoulder to shoulder across large expanses of the Mall. The National Park Service stopped doing crowd counts in 1997 after the agency was accused of underestimating numbers for the 1995 Million Man March."

So who wants to help me count these people so I can get my beer?

I forgot about the Palin MILF factor so that could mean more in attendance (due more in part to hormones than politics.  Roll Eyes ).

Conceding that and that Saturday is supposed to be a beautiful day, I still give the final attendance tally at under six figures. (At least I hope so or we are all doomed.  Cool).

"So. How many wing-nuts will whirl onto the mall for this one? I'm gonna say the crowd will be around 25,000, give or take. No matter what it finally tallies out as, it will at least give us a mean average for how many mentally ill people walk among"

I missed the second post and only saw the estimate from the first.

So over 6 figures vs under.  I'll still take the bet.

Given that the pictures posted reflect two, opposing factions converging at approximately the same location, I'd say it's a dismal turnout for both sides and their combined totals might make six figures.

Today thousands of Americans are gathering in Washington DC for what appears to be the largest Weight Watchers meeting ever.

Can you spot the crucial difference between these two images?

You're absolutely right. Besides the fact MLK had anti-capitalist sentiments... They were trying to change the face of america for the better and not pretend to represent it in it's dismal state.

The people in the image on the right are True Patriots™.

Many in that crowd on the left weren't allowed to vote until 2 years after that speech, I don't think they felt like they were a part of this country.

Kathy,

Are you assuming that one side of the picture was Beck's followers and the other came to hear Al Sharpton?

I am confident that thousands of pictures were taken over the course of a few hours.  And the one showing the most density (from either side) made it's way to both Beck's AND Sharptons portfolio.  And they'll eventually pass those photos along to their grandkids and say "look what I did on August 28, 2010".

But less we forget - Al Sharpton met at a high school and marched over to the mall 2 hours after Beck's speech.  I am confident there was some overlapping (and unneccesary taunting) and lots of it.  But lets not pretend that these numbers were anything less than what was originally stated.

Also, I caught the last half of that Fareed dudes show this morning.  It wasn't bad and quite unbiased.   I'll tune in again.

Thomas,

"True Patriots™ is a wholly owned trademark of Koch Industries."

I'm nursing a hangover and don't feel like doing research.  But something tells me that there is some deep seated sarcasm buried in the "True Patriot/ Koch Industries" reference.  Please enlighten me.

The bigger difference between the two photos is the bigger people on the right.  Sans a few people, we all got fat!
